Islam & the West development session
Session Structure
C-100 Private Meeting 1
Islam and the West - "Differences in Sight"
Wednesday 23 January 10:30 - 12:30
Hotel Belvédère, Rotary
This session will bring together leaders from Muslim and Western Communities to speak about the current and future challenges facing them.
It will be an interactive, open discussion that will attempt to not only
attempt to dispel common misconceptions, but also address the way in which
today's leaders can contribute towards a stronger collaboration and mutual
respect.
The session will also serve as a basis for a joint film project between the
Community of West and Islam Dialogue (C-100), and the Young Global Leaders
which hopes to engender a greater understanding between Islam and the West.
1. What are the major misconceptions held by each civilization with regard
to the other? What are legitimate differences between the governments and
value systems of both “Islam” and “The West?”
2. What historical events should be examined to explain the current state
of affairs?
3. Which leaders play the most important part in creating an environment of
respect and cross-cultural understanding?
The session will include:
