Islam and the West - "Differences in Sight"

This session will bring together leaders from Muslim and Western Communities to speak about the current and future challenges facing them.

It will be an interactive, open discussion that will attempt to not only attempt to dispel common misconceptions, but also address the way in which today's leaders can contribute towards a stronger collaboration and mutual
respect.

The session will also serve as a basis for a joint film project between the Community of West and Islam Dialogue (C-100), and the Young Global Leaders which hopes to engender a greater understanding between Islam and the West.

1. What are the major misconceptions held by each civilization with regard to the other? What are legitimate differences between the governments and value systems of both “Islam” and “The West?”

2. What historical events should be examined to explain the current state of affairs?

3. Which leaders play the most important part in creating an environment of respect and cross-cultural understanding?
